PURPOSE & OPERATION

What the package does

Sour gas treatment reduces hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide in a gas stream to meet the required downstream or sales-gas specification. The treatment route can use amine absorption or membrane separation, with the technology selected around feed composition, operating conditions and the required outlet quality.

ENGINEERING & INTEGRATION

How it fits your facility

For an amine system, the contactor and regeneration loop are developed as a connected process. The handling route for the separated acid gas must be defined, including any interface with a sulphur recovery unit or disposal system. Utility requirements, operating controls and the potential for multiple treatment trains are established during engineering.

Typical process sequence

  1. Sour gas inlet
  2. Inlet separator
  3. Amine contactor / membrane
  4. Regeneration where applicable
  5. Treated gas & acid gas outlets

Illustrative sequence; final equipment and routing follow the agreed process design.

Typical applications

  • Sales gas conditioning
  • Pipeline specification
  • Acid gas feed to sulphur recovery

Package considerations

  • Amine or membrane technology
  • Closed regeneration loop where applicable
  • Modular treatment trains

Design inputs to prepare

  • Feed gas composition and flow
  • H₂S and CO₂ content
  • Treated gas specification

The final process configuration, materials, design codes and performance requirements are established against the agreed design basis and client specification.
