GAS PROCESSING & TREATMENT
Gas filtration & separation
Remove solids, liquids and aerosols to protect downstream compressors, turbines and metering equipment.
Back to all process packagesPURPOSE & OPERATION
What the package does
Gas streams may carry entrained liquid, aerosols and solid particles that affect downstream equipment. A filtration and separation package removes these contaminants to the agreed efficiency and particle-size requirements, while managing the liquid collected during operation.
ENGINEERING & INTEGRATION
How it fits your facility
The separation arrangement is selected using gas flow, composition, operating conditions and the expected contaminant loading. Differential pressure monitoring helps operators assess filter condition. Duty/standby arrangements, drainage controls and access for element change are considered against the maintenance strategy and allowable pressure drop.
Typical process sequence
- Wet gas inlet
- Inlet knockout separator
- Filter coalescer
- Liquid collection & drain
- Clean gas outlet
Illustrative sequence; final equipment and routing follow the agreed process design.
Typical applications
- Compressor inlet protection
- Fuel gas and metering
- Pipeline gas
Package considerations
- Filter coalescers
- Differential pressure monitoring
- Automatic liquid collection and drainage
Design inputs to prepare
- Gas flow and composition
- Solids and liquid loading
- Filtration efficiency and allowable pressure drop
The final process configuration, materials, design codes and performance requirements are established against the agreed design basis and client specification.
