PURPOSE & OPERATION

What the package does

A mercury removal unit uses fixed-bed adsorbent media to capture mercury from the feed stream before it reaches sensitive downstream equipment. The package includes feed conditioning, adsorbent vessels and outlet filtration, with sampling and monitoring points defined around the operating requirement.

ENGINEERING & INTEGRATION

How it fits your facility

Media selection and bed sizing depend on inlet mercury concentration, feed composition, water and hydrogen sulphide content, and the target outlet level. A lead-lag vessel arrangement can support continuous treatment and planned media replacement. Required service life, pressure drop and change-out access are assessed together.

Typical process sequence

  1. Feed inlet
  2. Inlet filter / separator
  3. Adsorbent beds
  4. Dust filter
  5. Treated outlet

Illustrative sequence; final equipment and routing follow the agreed process design.

Typical applications

  • Gas processing
  • LNG feed preparation
  • Downstream equipment protection

Package considerations

  • Adsorbent vessels
  • Process monitoring
  • Media selection for the gas duty

Design inputs to prepare

  • Gas composition and flow
  • Mercury concentration
  • Required outlet mercury specification

The final process configuration, materials, design codes and performance requirements are established against the agreed design basis and client specification.
