PURPOSE & OPERATION

What the package does

Sulphur recovery converts hydrogen sulphide in an acid gas stream into recoverable sulphur. The profile’s typical process uses thermal and catalytic Claus stages, with heat recovery and sulphur condensation integrated into the treatment train.

ENGINEERING & INTEGRATION

How it fits your facility

The configuration is developed from acid gas composition and flow, the required recovery level and the site’s emissions criteria. Engineering also considers available steam, boiler feedwater and power, together with sulphur handling and storage. Recovery and product-quality targets are established for the specific feed and selected process configuration.

Typical process sequence

  1. Acid gas inlet
  2. Thermal reactor
  3. Heat recovery & condensation
  4. Catalytic Claus stages
  5. Liquid sulphur handling

Illustrative sequence; final equipment and routing follow the agreed process design.

Typical applications

  • Gas processing
  • Refinery acid gas
  • Sulphur management

Package considerations

  • Integrated process package
  • Recovery configuration to suit the duty
  • Emissions-focused design

Design inputs to prepare

  • Acid gas composition and flow
  • Sulphur recovery requirement
  • Emissions specification

The final process configuration, materials, design codes and performance requirements are established against the agreed design basis and client specification.
